1 Dr. Thomas Strode, Founder and Music Director

Dr. Thomas Strode is a native of Portland, Oregon and came to Ann Arbor in order to pursue graduate studies in music. He earned the Master of Music degree in 1975, and the Doctor of Musical Arts degree in 1981, as a pupil of Dr. Marilyn Mason, in organ performance. A church musician from the age of 15, he was Organist & Choirmaster of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church in Ann Arbor from 1977 to 2000. He is currently Director of Music at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Ann Arbor, where he directs the Adult and Handbell Choirs. He also teaches in the church's day school, where he directs the Middle School Choir and teaches a course in Music Appreciation for 6-8 graders. As an organ recitalist, Dr. Strode has performed in several states as well as in England, France, and Spain. Dr. Strode founded The Boychoir of Ann Arbor in 1987.

Alex Sutton is the Assistant Music Director of the Boychoir of Ann Arbor, where he directs the Preparatory Choir and assists with the Performing Choir. Mr. Sutton earned an MMA in Choral Conducting from the University of Michigan, where he studied with Dr. Jerry Blackstone. In addition to his work with the Boychoir, Mr. Sutton teaches choir at Tecumseh High School.
